The Troop has a long history dating back to when the church was called St. John's Methodist Church. The Troop and Pack both fell victim to inactivity during the late 90's with both groups eventually going inactive. In 2002 the Pack was reactivated and in 2008 the Troop was reactivated.
Pack and Troop 21 are part of the Two Rivers District in the Piedmont Council, an 11 county area representing 9 Districts. Patrick Lally serves as our District Executive. The Council office is located in Gastonia, North Carolina, on Franklin Blvd. and has a well-stocked Scout shop.
Our Council's Camp, Camp Bud Schiele, in Rutherfordton, NC, is a 1200+ acre facility regarded as one of the best in the Southeast. Our Troop spends a week every July at summer camp. The camp features a lake, dining hall, and hot showers.
Our success has been our adult leadership and the ability to provide an aggressive outdoor activities program. We feel strongly about providing an outdoor activity-based program where all boys have the opportunity to participate in at least 1 outdoor event per month. The Troop also has an annual canoe trip, wintercamp, and bike rally. Additionally, the Troop participates in community service projects, and assists the church with mission work.
